Master of Environmental and Resource Protection Law

This full‑time English‑taught Master of Environmental and Resource Protection Law programme is delivered by the Law School of Ocean University of China. Making full use of the university’s leading disciplinary strength in marine science, this postgraduate programme focuses on environmental‑protection law, natural‑resource‑management legal system and marine‑law research. It integrates domestic legal practice and international legal norms, responding to global challenges of ecological governance, marine‑resource development and environmental‑risk prevention. Major research directions include international environmental law, marine‑protection 
legal system, natural‑resource‑management law, comparative environmental‑law research. The programme aims to cultivate high‑level international legal talents who master systematic environmental‑and‑resource‑law theoretical system, understand international ecological‑governance rules, possess legal‑document analysis, case‑study research and cross‑cultural legal‑communication capabilities, as well as independent academic‑research awareness. The curriculum includes advanced postgraduate core‑law courses, discipline‑specific elective modules, international‑environmental‑law frontier seminars, legal‑case‑analysis workshops, supervisor‑led research‑project participation and master‑thesis research work. Representative core courses consist of International Environmental Law, Marine Environmental Protection Law, Comparative Resource Law, Legal Research Methodology and Legal Academic Writing. During the three‑year full‑time study period, students shall complete all compulsory and elective credit requirements, 
attend domestic and international law‑themed academic conferences and workshops, carry out legal‑document sorting and case‑analysis practice, take part in faculty‑managed law‑related research projects and accumulate sufficient academic‑research experience. Every enrolled student obtains one‑on‑one academic supervision from law‑school supervisors. Under supervisor instruction, students complete comprehensive legal‑literature review, research‑scheme formulation, legal‑case and regulatory‑document collection, material sorting and comparative analysis, research‑outcome summarisation and thesis drafting, and finally complete original master thesis and pass thesis defence. Applicants must provide authenticated bachelor‑degree certificate and full official academic transcript issued by accredited higher‑education institutions. Applicants with law or public‑administration‑related academic backgrounds receive priority in admission assessment. Non‑native English‑speaking applicants need valid English‑proficiency certificates such as IELTS or TOEFL. 
Applicants who have completed full‑degree programmes fully delivered in English may apply for English‑score exemption by submitting official supporting documents for university internal review. Applicant age generally should not exceed 35 years old, and physical‑mental health condition shall satisfy medical‑examination criteria for Chinese student‑visa application. After fulfilling all curriculum assessment requirements and successfully passing thesis defence, graduates receive official master‑degree diploma issued by Ocean University of China. Graduates can engage in environmental‑legal research, international marine‑governance‑related work, international‑organisation legal‑affair positions, or pursue further PhD‑level legal academic study worldwide.
