A journey without a roadmap
Dr. Muhammad Salman Munir Malik (Salman), Founder of LetsTern, grew up in a middle class family in Pakistan where pursuing higher education beyond university was largely uncharted territory. As the first person in his family to complete a PhD, he had no roadmap, no relatives who had navigated international admissions, scholarships, or academic careers before him.
Like countless students across developing countries, he learned everything through trial and error: searching for information, asking questions in online forums, learning from mentors, and relying on the kindness of strangers willing to share their experiences. Every application, every rejection, and every lesson eventually took him from Pakistan to Italy on a fully funded PhD scholarship.
The obstacle was not talent it was access
Along the way, Salman discovered what would shape LetsTern’s mission: the biggest barrier for many talented students was not intelligence, ambition, or hard work.
- Access to accurate information
- Access to guidance
- Access to opportunities
From one student to many
After arriving in Europe, Salman met students who had faced similar challenges and others who generously helped newcomers settle into unfamiliar environments. Some offered advice freely; others provided practical support at reasonable costs. Together, these experiences showed the power of community and mentorship in transforming educational journeys.
Following his own success, he began helping aspiring students navigate admissions, scholarships, and international study opportunities. What started as a few conversations grew into a daily commitment to supporting students struggling with the same questions he once had.
As demand increased, a deeper pattern emerged: many students never applied at all; others abandoned opportunities because university systems felt too complicated, documentation was overwhelming, or they lacked confidence in the process. At the same time, the education consultancy market was often characterised by misinformation, limited transparency, and inconsistent quality.
The problem was larger than individual guidance could solve. It required a system, technology, and a platform.

Shafat Ahmad
Co-Founder
Among the first to recognise the value of a technology driven platform that could simplify educational access for students and institutions alike. His belief in the mission, unwavering support, and partnership helped transform an ambitious idea into a growing organisation.
No student should miss an educational opportunity because they could not find the right information, the right guidance, or the right connection at the right time.
What LetsTern is building today
Today, LetsTern is working to turn that conviction into reality by building a digital ecosystem that helps students discover opportunities, connect with institutions, and navigate their educational journeys with confidence, whether locally or internationally.
Because education changes lives. And access to education should never depend on who you know.
