This full‑time English‑taught Master of China Studies postgraduate programme is operated by the International College of Jinan University, a well‑known institution for overseas‑education practice in China. Rooted in the profound historical and cultural resources of southern China, this programme focuses on multi‑dimensional research of contemporary Chinese society, politics, economy, culture and international relations. It aims to cultivate high‑level international talents who possess systematic theoretical knowledge of China studies, cross‑cultural analytical thinking, global vision and practical cross‑cultural communication
competence, capable of engaging in international exchanges, policy research, cultural communication and related comprehensive work. The curriculum is composed of compulsory core modules and rich elective courses, covering Comparative Chinese and Foreign Civilizations, Theory and Methods of Political Science, Chinese Government and Politics, Contemporary Chinese Economy and Development, Chinese Legal and Social Research, Chinese History and Cultural Investigation, Chinese Traditional Culture and Art Topics, Chinese and Foreign Relations Studies, Research Methods and Thesis Writing, as well as frontier academic seminars on China‑related hot‑spot issues. During the two‑year full‑time study period, students are required to complete all prescribed course credits, participate in regular academic lectures, thematic field‑study activities in Guangdong and surrounding regions, and international academic exchange forums hosted by the International College. Every enrolled student will be assigned a professional supervisor with abundant research experience in China‑related humanities and social‑science fields. Under the guidance of supervisors, students will carry out extensive literature review, field investigation, data sorting and independent research work, and finally complete a qualified master graduation thesis. Applicants must provide authenticated bachelor’s degree certificate and complete official academic transcript issued by recognised higher‑education institutions; applicants with humanities, social‑science, management or law‑related academic background are preferred. Non‑native‑English applicants need to submit valid English‑proficiency certificates such as IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80; applicants who have completed full‑degree programmes taught in English may apply for language‑score exemption upon official university review. Applicants are expected to hold basic understanding of Chinese society and history, and maintain strong interest in China‑oriented research topics. After fulfilling all course‑credit requirements and successfully passing master‑thesis defence, graduates will obtain official master’s‑degree diploma issued by Jinan University.
