Humphrey Fellowship is a prestigious U.S. Department of State-funded exchange that brings mid-career professionals from around the world to the U.S. for 10 months of non-degree academic enrichment and leadership development. Hosted at select U.S. universities, participants combine graduate-level coursework with professional experiences such as visits, seminars, and a national symposium in Washington, D.C. Fellows build lasting international networks and skills to drive positive change in their communities and countries. This transformative program creates a global network of leaders with over 6,000 alumni in 162+ countries.

Eligibility

Who can apply and what academic or personal criteria you need to meet.

The eligibility criteria is as follows:

  • Citizen of an eligible country
  • Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree
  • Minimum 5 years of full-time professional experience
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and public service commitment
  • Limited prior U.S. experience (generally under 3 years)

Sufficient English proficiency; pre-academic training may be required

  • Complete application form with essays (in English)
  • Two references (one from current employer)
  • Official transcripts and diploma(s) in English
