This full‑time English‑taught Master of Ecology postgraduate programme is delivered by the School of Life Sciences at South China Normal University, supported by the solid disciplinary foundation of life‑science and ecological‑environment research. This programme covers multiple key research directions including population‑ecology, community‑ecology, ecosystem‑protection, biodiversity‑conservation, environmental‑restoration technology and global‑climate‑change‑ecological‑response research. It commits to cultivating international high‑level scientific‑research talents who master systematic ecological‑science theoretical knowledge, possess field‑investigation and laboratory‑experiment‑operation capabilities, follow the global development trend of ecological‑environment protection, and own cross‑cultural scientific‑research‑cooperation awareness. Core courses contain Advanced Ecology Theory, Biodiversity Conservation Research, Ecosystem Structure and Function, Ecological‑Environment Restoration Technology, Environmental‑Big‑Data Monitoring and Analysis, Global‑Climate‑Change Ecological‑Impact Assessment, Biological‑Resource Protection and Utilisation, Natural‑Science‑Research‑Methodology and frontier seminars on international ecological‑environment hot‑spot‑research topics. During the three‑year full‑time study period, students are required to complete compulsory and elective course credits, participate in ecological‑academic forums, take part in outdoor field‑investigation practice and laboratory‑scientific‑research‑training arranged by the school. Every enrolled student will be assigned a professional supervisor with long‑term research experience in ecology‑related fields. Under supervisor’s guidance, students will conduct literature sorting, field‑data collection, experimental‑scheme design, sample‑processing‑analysis, statistical‑data‑processing and complete qualified master‑graduation‑thesis research work. Applicants must provide authenticated bachelor’s‑degree certificate and complete official academic transcript issued by recognised higher‑education institutions; applicants with biology, ecology, environmental‑science or other natural‑science‑related academic background are highly preferred. Non‑native‑English applicants need to provide valid English‑proficiency proof such as IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 80; applicants whose previous full‑degree is fully English‑taught can apply for language‑score exemption upon official university review. Applicants should have basic knowledge of biology and environmental‑science‑related experimental‑operation awareness. After fulfilling all course‑credit requirements and successfully passing master‑thesis defence, graduates will obtain official master’s‑degree diploma issued by South China Normal University. Graduates can obtain career opportunities in international environmental‑protection organisations, ecological‑environment‑research institutes, global biodiversity‑conservation institutions, cross‑border environmental‑consulting enterprises and other international‑oriented organisations, engaging in ecological‑scientific‑research, environmental‑assessment‑analysis, biodiversity‑protection‑management and related professional‑technical‑work.
