Computer Science and Technology

Computer Science and Technology is a full‑time English‑medium academic master programme for international students at UESTC, administered by School of Computer Science and Engineering. Core research directions include artificial intelligence, computer system architecture, computer network, data science and software theory. The programme adopts supervisor‑oriented training mode. Course modules cover core theoretical knowledge and practical technical training. International postgraduates take English‑taught core courses, take part in laboratory research projects under supervisor instruction, and conduct independent research for master dissertation. Students must finish required credits, complete thesis research and pass thesis defence to graduate and acquire UESTC official master degree certificate. Programme maximum valid study period is 4 years for students who obtain extension approval. Graduates can work for internet enterprises, high‑tech research institutes and digital‑industry‑related organisations for algorithm research, system development and technical research‑oriented positions. Qualified overseas applicants can apply for Chinese Government Scholarship and UESTC international student scholarships for financial aid.

Computer Science and Technology

Computer Science and Technology is a full‑time English‑taught academic master programme run by College of Computer Science, Nankai University. As one of the key featured disciplines of the university, this programme focuses on artificial intelligence technology, big‑data processing, computer network security, software engineering and computational theory research directions. Its teaching system combines systematic theoretical knowledge teaching, programming project practice, high‑level academic seminars and research group project practice. Every international student is assigned a professional supervisor, providing full‑cycle academic guidance covering course selection, research topic demonstration, project development practice and thesis writing. Students are required to finish compulsory and elective course credits, participate in computer‑science‑oriented research and engineering projects, complete independent original master dissertation and pass thesis defence so as to obtain the official master degree issued by Nankai University. Upon formal approval for study extension, the maximum permitted study period can reach 4 years. Graduates are competent for algorithm research, software development, data analysis and technical management jobs in internet technology enterprises, computing research institutes and high‑tech industrial organisations. Qualified overseas applicants may apply for Chinese Government Scholarship and university‑administered international student scholarships for financial aid.

Short descriptionThe objective is to train Computer Scientists with a professional knowledge based on a solid theoretical background knowledge.  They have the skills to take part in software development, in developing information systems and system management in various areas. Computer Scientists often acts as mediators between the customers of information systems and the producers. In this way, the job of a Computer Scientist synthesises the constructive activity of engineers with the general problem-solving attitude of mathematicians while participating in teams of large-scale projects.The program provides students with a broad education in Computer Science and Software Engineering in combination with specialised work in computer and information processing techniques, programming languages, data structures, information retrieval, operating systems, compiler design etc. Students learn the theory as well as the methodologies and techniques in the development and implementation of computer systems. The more practical programming courses are aided by several courses in pure and applied mathematics and theoretical computer science courses throughout the curriculum.Strength of programThe high standard of training is guaranteed by the highly qualified academic staff. Teaching is supported by modern infrastructure and well equipped computer labs (artificial intelligence, databases, and robotics). The library of the Faculty contains several thousand volumes. The students of higher years and PhD students help the first year students in a mentor system to overcome their first challenges at the university.In addition to the high level of theoretical training, the Faculty's relationship with the business community, the joint research and development projects offer up-to-date practical knowledge and experience to the students. The Faculty has concluded bilateral agreements with numerous universities in the world, which allows students to study one or two semesters or participate in research projects at a partner institution.Extracurricular undergraduate research activities of the students are supported and supervised by leading scientists of the Faculty. These students present their findings at a conference organised by the Faculty every year.Workshops are also organised with international partners.

This full‑time English‑taught Crop Science master programme carries out research in crop genetic breeding, crop physiology, crop stress resistance and high‑efficient crop cultivation technology. Students take major‑related theoretical courses, participate in crop‑planting field experiments and complete laboratory research tasks. Each international student gets matched with a professional supervisor for research planning and thesis composition. Candidates must complete course‑credit requirements, finish crop‑science‑related research work and pass thesis defence to obtain the master degree. Eligible overseas students can apply for Chinese Government Scholarship and university‑provided scholarship support.
