Urban and Rural Planning is a full‑time English‑taught academic master programme run by School of Urban Planning and Municipal Engineering, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. Its teaching system combines systematic theoretical knowledge teaching, site investigation and planning practice, high‑level academic seminars and research group project practice. Every international student is assigned a professional supervisor, providing full‑cycle academic guidance covering course selection, planning topic demonstration, field survey practice and thesis writing. Students are required to finish compulsory and elective course credits, participate in urban‑rural planning research and practical projects, complete independent original master dissertation and pass thesis defence so as to obtain the official master degree issued by Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. Upon formal approval for study extension, the maximum permitted study period can reach 4 years. Graduates are competent for urban‑rural planning design, historic town protection research, urban renewal design and comprehensive management jobs in urban‑rural planning institutes, municipal‑government planning departments and related design organisations.
