Master of Marine Biology is a full‑time English‑taught international master programme run by the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Xiamen University. Main research directions include marine organism diversity, marine biological resources development, marine ecological environment protection, marine microbiology and aquaculture biological technology. The teaching system combines theoretical lectures, laboratory experimental training, offshore field investigation, research case analysis and academic exchange activities. Every enrolled international student receives one‑to‑one academic supervision. Supervisors guide students on course module selection, research topic demonstration, experimental design and thesis composition. Students shall obtain compulsory and elective course credits, complete marine biology‑related experiment and field research tasks, finish independent master dissertation and pass final defence for graduation and degree conferral. With formal official approval, maximum study period can be extended to 4 years. Graduates are competent for marine biological research, ecological monitoring, aquatic product technology development and marine environmental assessment positions in ocean research institutes, marine ecological protection departments and biological technology enterprises. Eligible foreign applicants can submit scholarship applications for Chinese Government Scholarship and university‑provided grants.
