This full‑time English‑taught Master 
of Environmental Science and Engineering programme is offered by the School of the Environment at Nanjing University. Nanjing University’s environmental discipline enjoys leading academic status nationwide, focusing on global ecological environment challenges, pollution prevention and ecological restoration technology research. Major research directions include water pollution control, air pollution governance, soil remediation and ecological restoration, environmental risk assessment, sustainable development and circular economy. This research‑oriented postgraduate programme combines laboratory experiment, field investigation and numerical simulation research methods. The programme aims to cultivate high‑level international environmental technical talents who master solid environmental science and engineering theoretical foundation, possess environmental monitoring, experiment operation and pollution‑control scheme design capabilities, independent scientific‑research innovation 
awareness and good cross‑cultural academic exchange competence. The curriculum consists of advanced postgraduate core engineering courses, discipline‑oriented elective modules, cutting‑edge environmental academic seminars, laboratory rotation and field investigation training, supervisor‑led research project participation and master thesis research work. Representative core courses include Advanced Environmental Chemistry, Water Pollution Control Engineering, Soil Pollution Remediation Technology, Environmental Risk Assessment, Circular Economy and Sustainable Development, Environmental Engineering Research Methodology, Academic Writing and Thesis Standardisation, and serial thematic seminars tracking global environmental research frontiers. During the 3‑year full‑time study period, students need to complete all compulsory and elective credit requirements, attend international and domestic environmental academic conferences and technical workshops, finish multi‑group laboratory rotation and outdoor field‑survey 
practice, take part in faculty‑managed environmental research projects and accumulate sufficient experimental practical experience. Every admitted student will receive one‑on‑one academic supervision from faculty member. Under supervisor guidance, students will finish comprehensive literature review, research scheme design, laboratory experiment and field data collection, experimental data statistics and analysis, research result sorting and academic paper drafting, and finally complete original master graduation thesis and pass thesis defence. Applicants must submit authenticated bachelor degree certificate and full official academic transcript issued by accredited higher education institutions. Applicants with environmental science, environmental engineering, applied chemistry, ecology and related engineering backgrounds receive priority consideration. Non‑native English‑speaking applicants need valid English proficiency certificates such as IELTS or TOEFL. Applicants 
who have finished full‑degree programmes fully taught in English can apply for language score exemption by submitting official supporting documents for university internal review. Applicant age generally should not exceed 35 years old, and physical‑mental health condition must satisfy medical examination criteria for Chinese student visa. After fulfilling all curriculum assessment requirements and successfully passing thesis defence, graduates are awarded official master degree diploma issued by Nanjing University. Graduates can take research‑and‑development positions in environmental research institutes, environmental protection enterprises, ecological governance institutions, international environmental organisations, or pursue further PhD‑level academic study worldwide.
