About this program
What this degree covers and what you can expect from the university.
This full-time English-taught Master of Electrical Engineering programme is delivered by School of Electrical Engineering and Automation at Wuhan University, a leading school in electrical engineering in China with strong discipline strength. The programme focuses on power system operation and control, electrical
equipment design and manufacture, new energy power generation, power electronics and electrical automation technology. Major research directions include power system analysis and control, new energy power generation and grid connection, electrical equipment intelligentization, power electronics technology, electrical automation and drive control. The programme aims to cultivate high-level international electrical engineering talents who master systematic theoretical knowledge, possess engineering design, experimental analysis, project practice and scientific research innovation capabilities. The curriculum includes advanced postgraduate core courses in electrical engineering, characteristic elective modules, frontier academic seminars, laboratory experimental training, engineering field practice, supervisor-led research project participation and master thesis research work. Representative core courses include Advanced Power System Analysis, New Energy Power Generation Technology, Electrical Equipment
Design, Power Electronics Technology, Electrical Automation and Drive Control, Research Methodology and Technical Thesis Writing. During the 3-year full-time study, students need to complete all compulsory and elective credit requirements, participate in domestic and international electrical engineering academic conferences, finish laboratory experimental training and engineering field practice, take part in faculty-managed research projects and accumulate engineering experience. Every admitted student receives one-on-one academic supervision from faculty supervisors. Under supervisor guidance, students complete literature retrieval and review, research scheme design, experimental scheme debugging, test-data collection and analysis, research-result sorting and academic-paper drafting, and finally complete original master thesis and pass thesis defence. Applicants shall provide authenticated bachelor-degree certificate and complete official academic transcript issued by accredited
higher-education institutions. Applicants with electrical engineering, automation, power system or other related STEM backgrounds get priority in admission assessment. Non-native English-speaking applicants need valid English-proficiency certificates (IELTS 6.0 or above, TOEFL 80 or above). Applicants who have completed full-degree programmes fully delivered in English can apply for language-score exemption by submitting official supporting documents for university internal review. Applicant age generally should not exceed 35 years old, and physical-mental health condition must satisfy medical-examination criteria for Chinese student-visa application. After finishing all curriculum assessment requirements and successfully passing thesis defence, graduates obtain official master-degree diploma awarded by Wuhan University. Graduates can engage in power system operation, electrical equipment design, new energy technology research and development, electrical automation engineering
work in global power enterprises, electrical equipment manufacturing companies, research institutes, or pursue further PhD-level academic study worldwide.
