This full‑time English‑taught Master of Computer Science and Technology programme is delivered by the School of Information Science and Engineering at Yunnan University. The programme focuses on artificial intelligence technology, big‑data processing, computer network technology, intelligent system development and cross‑border digital application research combining southwest regional characteristics. The faculty includes full‑time university researchers and industry visiting experts. The curriculum consists of theoretical courses, algorithm practice, project‑oriented laboratory training and technical seminar activities. Under supervisor guidance, international students can participate in university scientific‑research projects and technical practice work. Students must complete all course credits, finish technical research or system‑development projects and pass master thesis defence to graduate. Eligible international candidates can submit applications for Chinese Government Scholarship, Yunnan Provincial Government Scholarship and university‑set scholarships to cover part of their study costs.

Methods such as machine learning and deep learning make it possible to extract valuable insights from large datasets and to develop innovative products and services.Data scientists are masters of data analysis and data insights. They are needed in all sectors of the economy where in-depth data knowledge is required and data-driven decisions are made. They work in startups and medium-sized companies as well as in the research and development departments of large, globally operating corporations.The HFH distance learning program in Data Science offers you comprehensive and interdisciplinary training in statistics, computer science, and business analytics to optimally prepare you for the challenges of the data-driven age.During the program, you will learn various techniques and methods for generating new insights from large datasets. This includes the use of both classic statistical models and artificial intelligence methods . In the practical project labs , you will apply your knowledge directly in interdisciplinary projects.To support your learning, we offer online seminars for all modules . Many seminars can also be attended in person at selected study centers.In the state-approved distance learning program Data Science, you can obtain a Bachelor of Science with 180 ECTS credits in 8 semesters or a Bachelor of Engineering with 210 ECTS credits in 9 semesters .By increasing the workload per semester, you can reduce the study duration to 6 semesters (B.Sc.) or 7 semesters (B.Eng.) .
