Master's Programme in Global Governance Law

WIPO‑Tongji Master of Intellectual Property Law

This LL.M program in Intellectual Property Law is a joint‑training initiative between Tongji University and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). This English‑taught program is designed for international legal practitioners, policy‑makers and graduates who want to systematically study international intellectual‑property rules, Chinese intellectual‑property legislation and global intellectual‑property‑practice mechanisms. Core curriculum covers patent law, trademark law, copyright law, international intellectual‑property treaties, intellectual‑property transaction and licensing, intellectual‑property dispute resolution and technology‑innovation‑related legal governance. The teaching team consists of Tongji law‑school professors, WIPO senior experts and practicing intellectual‑property lawyers. The program adopts a flexible study pattern: students complete intensive course study in Shanghai for the first academic year, then conduct social‑practice research and thesis writing in home country or other locations, and return to Tongji University for thesis defense. Applicants shall be non‑Chinese citizens holding valid passports and hold a recognized bachelor’s degree in law or other disciplines; relevant intellectual‑property working background is preferred. Two academic recommendation letters, curriculum vitae and English‑written study plan are required for application. Admitted students must complete required course credits and submit a qualified English‑language master thesis and pass thesis defense to obtain the LL.M degree. Graduates can engage in intellectual‑property‑related legal practice, policy research, enterprise intellectual‑property management work in international intellectual‑property organizations, law firms, multinational enterprises and governmental regulatory authorities worldwide.
