Applied Economics is a full‑time English‑taught academic master programme for international students operated by College of Economics, Nankai University. Benefiting from the time‑honoured and high‑level economics discipline of Nankai University, this programme focuses on macroeconomic analysis, industrial economy, international trade, public finance and regional economic development research directions. The training system includes systematic theoretical course learning, economic case analysis, data empirical research practice, participation in economics research group projects and postgraduate dissertation research work. Every enrolled international student will be assigned a dedicated faculty supervisor, who provides comprehensive academic guidance covering course module selection, research topic confirmation, data research implementation and thesis composition. Students must complete all required course credits, take part in discipline‑related empirical research tasks, accomplish independent original master dissertation and successfully pass the final thesis defence to obtain the official master degree certificate issued by Nankai University. If formal extension application gets administrative approval, the maximum valid study period can be extended to 4 years. Graduates are well‑qualified for economic analysis, industry research, international trade operation and policy research posts in government research institutions, financial institutions, consulting agencies and multinational enterprises. Qualified overseas applicants are eligible to submit applications for Chinese Government Scholarship and university‑sponsored international student scholarships to obtain financial support for their study.
